Pioneer Volleyball Inks Brookland Bearcat- Wil Teague, Sports Information Director, 3/2/26
Paragould, AR- Makenzie Watlington of Brookland High School made things official, furthering her academic and athletic career, signing with the Pioneer Volleyball Program of Crowley's Ridge College.
Watlington wrapped up a standout high school career at BHS, leaving a lasting impact as both a multi-sport athlete and a role model student in the classroom.
While at BHS, Watlington competed primarily as a middle blocker and right-side hitter for the Bearcats. Her presence at the net, highlighted by consistent blocking and defensive instincts, made her one of the team's key contributors during her junior and senior seasons. Watlington played an important role in helping the Bearcats compete in Arkansas 4A postseason runs during her high school career, providing steady leadership and intensity when her team needed it the most.
Watlington also dedicated herself to the basketball program, competing year-round and continuing to develop her skills through AAU basketball and Junior Olympic volleyball. Her commitment to improving outside the regular season demonstrates her drive to compete at a high level.
All the while being a leader on the multiple athletic courts, Watlington has also maintained an academic standard of excellence, putting the "student" back in "student-athlete", showcasing discipline and a strong desire to thrive in all ways.
We are excited to welcome Makenzie to the Ridge and to the Pioneer Athletic Family. #GOPIONEERS
