MOORE, Okla. – Crowley's Ridge College baseball picked up a pair of wins to start the 2021 campaign against Randall (Okla.) University. In two contrasting games, the Pioneer pitching in game one showed off for a 1-0 victory, followed by CRC's hitting flexing for a 10-6 win in game two.

GAME ONE:

Getting the nod from Crowley's Ridge (1-0) head coach Brenden Camp, Jack Roney opened his collegiate career with a complete-game shutout. The South Fulton (Tenn.) native allowed only three hits while fanning four Randall Saints (0-7).

The Pioneers did not pick up the season's first run until sophomore Phoenix Beal singled Corbett Seib home to score the lone run of the contest.

Roney then coaxed a groundout and two flyouts to wrap up the game with a 1-0 win in favor of Crowley's Ridge.

Seib was the only Pioneer with multiple hits (2), while Beal recorded the game's lone RBI.

GAME TWO

While the first game of the day was a pitcher's duel that only allowed seven combined hits, the late game saw Crowley's Ridge (2-0) explode to collect 12 hits and earn back-to-back four-run innings.

Randall (0-8) started the game with a bang, scoring three runs against junior southpaw Zorey Chipman in the bottom of the first inning. The Seib and Beal Show continued to impress by hitting back-to-back doubles to score Seib and cut into the Saint lead.

A two-run fourth inning by RU extended the CRC deficit to 5-1. When Crowley's Ridge came to bat in the top of the fifth, the Pioneers used a Saint error to spark the first of two four-run frames.

Chipper Lamb singled home Garett Wilson followed by Bobby Wright bringing Nate Finney home with an RBI single. The men in green had four singles in the inning, capped by Beal recording his third hit of the game to drive in Seib to take a 6-5 lead.

The top of the sixth inning appeared to see Randall right the ship by getting two quick outs, but three straight hit batsmen ignited the flame for Seib to knock a two-run single. Beal then earned his fourth hit in as many at-bats by driving in his third RBI.

Randall was able to swipe a run back in the bottom of the seventh, but Bo Hale shut the door in relief to earn the comeback victory 10-6.

Beal ended game two going 4-4 from the plate and driving in three RBIs. Seib and Trey Gossett followed closely behind with two RBIs each.
