JOPLIN, Mo. – Crowley's Ridge baseball split the series in Missouri on Friday, February 11, dropping both games to Baptist Bible (Mo.) College, first 8-5 before being walked off in the eighth inning 3-2.

Game One

Crowley's Ridge – 5

Baptist Bible – 8

The Pioneers (2-1) gave up a four-run bottom of the first inning sparked by a two-run error. With the bases loaded, the patient Patriots coaxed back-to-back walks.

With plenty of base traffic to go around, the Patriots (1-6) gave up a bases-loaded walk to Bobby Wright. Tired of the free passes, Corbett Seib laced a two-run double into left field to close the Patriot lead to 4-3.

The Pioneers committed three errors in the game, two of which directly allowed runs to score, including one to plate the fifth BBC run in the bottom of the third inning. The hosting Patriots then hit back-to-back singles to put up another four-run inning.

Crowley's Ridge took advantage of a few defensive miscues, scoring via obstruction in the top of the fourth and thanks to an error in the top of the fifth. The early lead for Baptist Bible was enough, as the Pioneers fell 8-5.

CRC tallied five hits in the inning with Seib's double being the lone extra-base hit.

Zorey Chipman (0-1) took the loss, exiting after the first inning.

Game Two (8 inns.)

Crowley's Ridge – 2

Baptist Bible – 3

The second game began with quick runs for both teams, but then the respective pitchers locked in to duel the last six innings in a walk-off win for the hosting Patriots.

A pair of freshman dealt from the mound for Crowley's Ridge (2-2) with Kaden Hargrove drawing the start in a no-decision. Adonis Thomas (0-1) threw three scoreless innings with the lone run coming in the bottom of the eighth.

Austin Gross hit a two-out single to right field in the bottom of the first to drive in Bobby Wright but was thrown out trying to stretch it into a double. The Patriots (2-6) answered in the bottom half of the first with a double, walk, and double steal bringing in the tying run after a groundout.

Chipper Lamb traded a bruise for a base after leading off the second inning being hit by a pitch, eventually reaching third base on Kole Simms' single to right field. Lamb plated the second run for the green and white, but the Patriots turned a double play in the process.

BBC would tie the game in the bottom of the fourth inning with a delayed steal of home after a steal of second. The Pioneers and the Patriots then traded scoreless innings into extras when a one-out double set up a pinch-hit walk-off hit to give the Patriots their second win of the day 3-2.

Gross had two of the Pioneers' five hits in the loss.
