PARAGOULD, Ark. – Head baseball coach Brenden Camp passed his predecessor and current athletic director, Paul McFadden, with his 109th career victory in game one. The Pioneers celebrated the careers of Zorey Chipman, Austin Gross, Ethan Hilton, Noah Overshine, and Bobby Wright in an emotional pregame ceremony before claiming victory over the Lincoln Christian (Ill.) Red Lions 13-1. The festivities continued into game two when the Pioneers cruised to a 14-3 win.

GAME ONE

Lincoln Christian – 1

Crowley's Ridge – 13

The Pioneers (15-24, 6-2 CAC) plated at least one run in each inning, including a game-high four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Trey Gossett got the scoring started in the bottom of the fourth inning when a line drive hit off the Red Lion (0-27, 0-10 CAC) pitcher hard enough to roll into the outfield to score both Bobby Wright and Kole Simms. Thankfully, LCU's Micah Cook was able to return to action and continue his day on the hill. Zorey Chipman doubled down the left-field line to score Gossett to give the Pioneers a 3-0 lead after one full inning.

After Noah Overshine singled up the middle and stole second, Wright's single to third base plated his classmate. Wright would wrap around to score two batters later when Phoneix Beal laced a single into left field to give CRC a 5-0 lead after two. Overshine would drive in the Pioneers' sixth run, doubling to right field in the bottom of the third to score Austin Gross. It was another double in the fourth, this time off of the bat of Chipman, that would score the seventh run, with the two-bagger driving in Simms.

Wright (4) and Gossett (1) were zeroed in during their third trip to the plate, with both sluggers launching towering two-run homers into the woods beyond the left-field fence. The hits continued for the men in green when Gross led off the sixth inning with a single, later scoring on Overshine's second double of the day. Chipper Lamb would follow with a groundout that scored Ethan Hilton.

On the hill, Jack Roney (6-3) was dominant, allowing one unearned run while punching out five.

Gossett led the Pioneer offense with a 2-for-3 day from the dish while driving in four CRC runs. Wright was not far behind, driving in three runs off of two hits. Chipman and Overshine both showed out for Senior Day, with both tallying three hits.

GAME TWO

Lincoln Christian – 2

Crowley's Ridge – 14

Crowley's Ridge (16-24, 7-2 CAC) completed the sweep of Lincoln Christian (0-27, 0-11 CAC) with a 14-run performance. Despite giving up an early run, the Pioneers answered in the bottom of the first inning off of the bat of Trey Gossett (2) who blasted his second two-run dinger of the day to go up 2-1.

Bobby Wright, who continued his on-base streak to an even 20 games, led off the bottom of the third inning with a double. Kole Simms would reach on a well-placed bunt, but a late throw went wide of the first baseman to see Wright jog around third to score the third Pioneer run. Gossett continued his strong leg-side hitting day with a double to left to score Simms.

It was a seven-run fourth inning from Crowley's Ridge that put the cherry on top of Senior Day. The Pioneers scored runs in four successive at-bats that began with a two-run double from Chipper Lamb. Wright would then miss a homer by inches when his fly ball to center bounced off of the top of the fence and back into play, causing the senior to stay content with an RBI double. Simms would then plate Wright with a single up the middle before Gossett went opposite-field to leg out an RBI triple. Austin Gross would continue the Pioneer basepath carousel with an RBI double down the left-field line to score both Simms and Zorey Chipman, who reached on an infield single.

Lamb (1) would surprise himself by sending a fly ball over the fence in left for his first varsity homer, a three-run bomb, to end the scoring with CRC on top 14-3.

JackHenry Glasgow (3-5) earned the victory, striking out four while allowing one unearned run.

Lamb's two-hit day came with plenty of runners in scoring position, as the junior drove in five runs. Gossett ended game two a single shy of the cycle, collecting four RBIs in a 3-for-4 day at the dish. Noah Overshine joined both Simms and Wright in the multi-hit club for the finale.
