Paragould, Ark.- CRC baseball dropped a 9-inning mid-week matchup against the Mustangs of CBC. Central Baptist smacked out 22 hits against the Pioneers in the 21-4 CRC loss. CBC wasted no time getting runs across the plate as they pushed 5 Mustangs across the plate at the top of the first. The Pioneers struggled at the plate as they were held hitless and scoreless until the bottom of the 5th where the Pioneers laced out 4 of their 5 hits in the contest. Andrew Brown drew a walk to start the inning that allowed Blake Wilson to break up the no-hitter by singling on a hard ground ball past the third basemen. Garett Wilson then grounded out on a fielder's choice that moved up the Pioneer runners one bag each putting CRC's first run 90 feet away. Benton Lashley entered the game pinch-hitting and delivered as the outfielder singled on a line drive to centerfield knocking in both runs. Freshman James Wilson also entered via a pinch-hitter and followed Lashley with a single to left field. Josh Schmitt took his turn at the plate pinch-hitting and drew a walk setting up senior Trey Gossett with the bases loaded. Gossett came through by smashing a double to right center scoring the last two Pioneer runs of the contest and ending their rally in the 5th. CRC's James Wilson did find a second hit by singling in the bottom of the 7th, but the Mustangs high powered offense left little hope for a Pioneer win. CRC falls 21-4.
