Pioneers Fall to Mustangs in Conference Series- Wil Teague, Sports Information Director, 3/15/25

The Mustangs handed CRC two conference losses this afternoon, winning the American Midwest Conference series matchup by sweeping the Pioneers in games three and four. CRC falls to (4-22) and (4-12 AMC).

Little Rock, Ark. - The Mustangs pulled out the come-from-behind win in game one after the Pioneers took advantage of Mustang mishaps in the opening two frames to take a two-run lead. In the top of the first, Trey Drake's sac bunt caused enough chaos to draw a wild throw to first which allowed Conner Boan to reach the plate. In the second, senior Matt Parker's chopper to the left side of the infield again disrupted the Mustang's defense, warranting a second costly error by CBC as Clay Burgess scored on the play. Unfavorably for Pioneer fans, this would end the scoring streak as the Mustangs voiced back with runs over the next 4 innings while shutting out the Pioneers. Jack Roney took the loss, allowing 6 runs (5 earned) off 9 hits and striking out 5 in 6.0 innings. Conner Boan, James Wilson, Clay Burgess, and Kade Lindgren each had a hit in the contest.

Central Baptist College- 6
Little Rock, Ark.- Central Baptist College avoided the series split with the Pioneers, winning the conference series by hoisting their second shutout win of the weekend. CBC linked together 6 runs off 10 hits while limiting the Pioneers to 3 hits in the final game. The three Pioneer hits came from Conner Boan, who singled to start the contest in the first, Adonis Thomas, who singled to center field in the second, and Rilyn Coleman, who singled to left field in the fifth. Parker Gordon claimed the loss, throwing all 6.0 innings, allowing 6 runs on 10 hits while striking out 3.
