Baseball Sweeps Eutectics in Series Opening Doubleheader- Wil Teague, Sports Information Director, 3/21/25

Pioneer Baseball (6-22 & 6-12 AMC) swept the Eutectics of UHSP (10-19 & 6-12 AMC) in today's opening doubleheader. CRC claimed the opening contest with a 5-2 spread before winning game two 9-7.
Game 1

Paragould, Ark.- Senior RHP JackHenry Glasgow propelled the Pioneers ahead in game one with the Paragould native going the distance allowing 2 runs off 5 hits while waiving 8 Eutectic batters in his 7.0 inning gem. The offense supported Glasgow piecing together 8 hits on which they scored 5 runs. Senior Matthew Parker roared to life with the Tennessean sending his first homer of the year over the left fielder en route to a 3 for 3 with 3 RBI performance in game one. Junior James Wilson also added a multi-hit game going 2 for 4 with an RBI in the win.

Paragould, Ark.- Game two saw a last-minute surge from UHSP test the Pioneers before CRC ended the contest with a two-run win. Senior Chance Arender got the start for game two, and earned his first win of the season, shoving for 6.0 allowing just 2 runs off 5 hits before a 5-hit, 5-run top of the seventh rally from UHSP threatened the Pioneers. Fortunately, junior LHP Elijah Mayfield entered the game and quickly retired the last two outs earning his second save of the season. The Pioneers' offense rallied 11 hits in the win, scoring 9 runs. Five Pioneers had multiple hit games with James Wilson, Clay Burgess, Conner Boan, Trey Drake, and Alex Gamez collecting 2 hits. Wilson led the offense going 2 for 4 with 4 RBIs. Burgess followed with a 2 for 3 and 3 RBI game. Matthew Parker brought in the last two runs, going back-to-back games with a home run as the senior went 1 for 3 with a HR and 2 RBIs.
