The Eutectics (12-19 & 8-12 AMC) reverse swept the Pioneers (6-24 & 6-14 AMC), winning games three and four of this weekend's American Midwest Conference matchup, forcing a series split.

Game 3

Crowley's Ridge-6

UHSP- 11

Paragould, Ark.- The Pioneers allowed the Eutectics to claim the opening contest with UHSP taking advantage of an error-plagued third inning where CRC saw 7 Eutectics reach the plate off 3 Pioneer mishaps. CRC responded the following frame, cutting the deficit to 3 with 4 runs of their own but painfully that's as close as the Eutectics would allow the Pioneers to get in the contest. UHSP tacked on 3 more runs, one in the fourth and two in the sixth before CRC pushed its last two runs to the plate in the bottom half of the 6th. The Pioneers had 8 hits, Clay Burgess led the team going 2 for 4 with an RBI in the loss. Jack Roney took the loss allowing 10 runs (5 earned) off 10 hits while fanning 5 over 6.0 innings.

Game 2

Crowley's Ridge- 7

UHSP- 8

Paragould, Ark.- In the series finale, the Eutectics snatched the series win from the Pioneers, winning the contest with a 3-run swing in the top of the sixth. After UHSP took the lead with a sole run in the opening three outs of the game, the Pioneer offense quickly fought back, retaliating by reclaiming the lead which they maintained for the majority of the contest. Junior Trey Drake started the Pioneers' scoring by smashing his first home run of the year in the bottom of the first with a hot shot to right-center field, kickstarting a five-run stretch over the next two innings. UHSP showed grit, erasing some of the Pioneer lead by scrapping back 3 runs in the third but with the Pioneers' offense adding one run in the fourth and fifth, CRC maintained its advantage heading into the sixth inning. At the start of the sixth, CRC led UHSP 7-5 but woefully fell behind 8-7 after the Eutectics linked together a 3-run chain to reclaim the lead, and then maintained the lead by escaping a bases-loaded pickle from the Pioneers in the bottom frame of the inning. UHSP stood tall in the seventh, retiring the side to claim game 4. The Pioneers mustered 5 hits, Brylan Honeycutt led the team by going 2 for 3, and Trey Drake added a 1 for 3, HR and 2 RBI effort. Adonis Thomas took the loss allowing 3 runs off 2 hits, walking 3, and striking out 4 in 2.0 innings. Parker Gordon got the no-decision allowing 5 runs (3 earned) off 5 hits, walking 1 and striking out 2 over 5.0 innings.

Up Next: The Pioneers will see a few days off over the Spring Break holiday before hosting Mission University for a four-game home series next Friday and Saturday, March 28th and 29th. #GOPIONEERS
