Pioneer Baseball (7-31 & 6-18 AMC) dropped both contests today against the Owls of William Woods University (23-16 & 18-12 AMC). The Pioneers look to bounce back tomorrow in the series' final doubleheader.
Game 1
Crowley's Ridge-5
William Woods- 10
Paragould, Ark.- The visiting Owls of William Woods University ran away with the series opener, breaking away from a 4-4 tie with CRC, scoring back-to-back 3-run frames in the 6th and 7th innings to take the contest with a 5-run gap. JackHenry Glasgow toed the rubber for the Pioneers with the RHP proving dominant, holding the Owls scoreless through three frames before WWU broke through and opened the scoring with a 3-run fourth inning. The Pioneers rallied back, even tying the contest as Trey Drake scored off Adonis Thomas' sacrifice bunt in the bottom of the fifth, but agonizingly, the Pioneers would never take the lead from WWU. In the top of the sixth, WWU pulled away from the Pioneers, strongly credited to a critical two-out three-run homer by the Owls. CRC amassed 5 hits in the game, sophomore duo Rilyn Coleman and Brylan Honeycutt were a force together in the contest, each collecting two hits while hitting back-to-back in the lineup. Glasgow took the loss, throwing 5.2 innings, allowing 7 runs (4 earned) off 8 hits while walking 4 and striking out 5.

Paragould, Ark.- In the series' second contest, a pivotal 6-run fourth frame from the Owls decided the outcome of the game with WWU taking the win, 8-2 over the Pioneers. Senior Matthew Parker claimed the second run with the veteran Pioneer doubling down the leftfield line, scoring freshman courtesy runner, Trent Siemens, in the fourth. Senior Adonis Thomas took the loss, allowing 8 runs (7 earned) off 10 hits while walking 2 and striking out 1 in 6.0 innings.
