Adcock's Pioneers Earn First Win of 2026

Adcock & Pioneers Earn First Win of 2026- Wil Teague, Sports Information Director, 2/2/26

Game Two:

Crowley's Ridge- 9

Texas A&M- Texarkana- 2

Hooks, TX- In today's opening contest of the final doubleheader, the Pioneers, along with their new skipper, Spencer Adcock, earned their first win, defeating the Eagles in game two by a score of 9-2. The Pioneers bounced back after their season-opening defeat by increasing their total hits in the contest to 7, on which they pushed their 9 runs across. The Pioneers' pitching staff joined in on the fray, limiting the rather explosive Eagles to just 3 hits in the contest. CRC also bounced back in a big way defensively, limiting their error total to just 2 in game two.

Big hitters for the Pioneers were led by Ricky Requena (1-4), who drove in 4 RBIs, kudos to his execution of the best play in baseball, the three-run homer in the top of the third. Aiden Smith and Reece Bariola followed their teammate with (2-4) efforts, with each Smith and Bariola driving in an RBI and Bariola smacking a double. JP Wills (1-3) took care of the team's last RBI with his game-opening single in the top of the 1st to give the Pioneers their first and final lead of the matchup. On the bump, sophomore Missourian Brayden Mashek earned his first win of the year, tossing 4.0 innings, allowing 2 runs (1 earned) off 2 hits while walking 2 and fanning 2 before being relieved by Brennon Burch, who closed the door for the Pioneers, tossing the remaining 3 innings, allowing 1 hit, while walking 2 and striking out 2.

Game Three:

Crowley's Ridge- 5

Texas A&M-Texarkana- 16

Hooks, TX- In the series finale, the Eagles would jump ahead of the Pioneers 5-0 with runs in the third and fourth frames before Reece Bariola and Pioneer catcher, JP Wills, rallied the troops in the top of the fifth and leveled the playing field. In the inning, Bariola's RBI walk and Wills' game-tying grand slam erased all Eagle advantage; painfully, the Eagles wouldn't be worse for wear, as they responded with a surge of runs in the bottom half of the fifth with two homers themselves, pushing 10 runners across the plate, which would be the doom of the Pioneers. The Pioneers mustered 5 hits as a team, while driving in 5 runs and drawing 7 walks, and were led by JP Wills (1-3) (HR, 4RBI). Lawson Devault, Kolby Webb, Crafton Beeler, and Aiden Smith each added one hit in the contest. Relief pitcher Hunter Hill suffered his second loss of the year.

"TAMUT top to bottom is extremely talented and was a great test to start the year. We competed, we answered back after adversity, and we showed flashes of who we can be, but consistency has to be our standard. When we executed, we put pressure on them offensively and played winning baseball. The response in Game 2 & a two-out grand slam to tie the game in Game 3 says a lot about our toughness. This group is learning what it takes to win at this level, and we'll be better because of it."- Head Coach Spencer Adcock

Up Next: The Pioneers will stay in the Lone Star State, traveling to Dallas, TX, to take on Dallas Christian College in a four-game series this Friday and Saturday, February 6th and 7th. #GOPIONEERS
