Toppers Take Two- Wil Teague, Sports Information Director, 2/24/26

Game One:

Crowley's Ridge- 3

Blue Mountain Christian- 5

Blue Mountain, MS- In this evening's non-conference doubleheader, the Toppers would slip past the Pionners in the opening matchup witha score of 4-3, credited to a walkoff double by the Toppers in their final stand. In the contest, Aiden Smith would get the Pioneers back in the game with his 2-run homer in the top of the third, reclaiming the lead 2-1, but the Toppers wouldn't be held off for long as they tied the contest in the latter half of the same inning before retaking a 1-run lead in the sixth frame. Sophomore, and reigning AMC Hitter of the Week, Reece Bariola, answered the call for the Pioneers in the top of the seventh, scoring speedy Junior Jax Buttigan with a single up the middle, but painfully the Toppers would call game in the bottom half of the inning with their game-winning hit. 

Game Two: 

Crowley's Ridge- 3

Blue Mountain Christian-18

Blue Mountain, MS- In the second contest of the evening, the Toppers would swiftly defeat the Pioneers by a score of 18-3, heavily credited to their ability to take advantage of free bases by the Pioneers through defensive mishaps and walks. The Pioneers put together 8 hits as a team, and left 6 runners stranded on base. Rilyn Coleman and Aiden Smith led the offense with 2-3 performances. 

Up Next: The Pioneers will hit the road for a three-game series against Rust College this weekend, February 27th and 28th. #GOPIONEERS
