HENDERSON, TN - Crowley's Ridge College got off to a hot start on the road against the Lions of Freed-Hardeman University, but could not overcome a mid first half drought and fell to FHU 98-66.
It seemed the Pioneers had gotten over some early game stumbles and put together a good start as they jumped out to an 11-4 lead early in the first half. A three point basket by Hunter Turner with 15:36 to play in the first half gave the Pioneers their largest lead early at seven points. After an FHU run gave the Lions their first lead on the night, Turner again connected from long range and tied the game at 15 each with 12:31 to go in the first half. That would be the last Pioneers basket until Braeden Williams make the second of two free throws with 7:23 to play. FHU outscored the Pionners 21-1 over the five minute span and followed by taking a 49-25 halftime lead.
The second half was closer but the Pioneers could not overcome the Lions and their 24 point lead.
Hunter Turner led CRC with 24 points on seven of 11 from the three point line. Chris Bernard added 11 points in the loss.
James Davis led FHU with 25 points on the night.
