Pioneer comeback falls short

PARAGOULD, Ark. – Crowley's Ridge College jumped out to an early eight-point lead before the hot 3-point shooting of Iowa Wesleyan University pushed the Tigers in front by as many as 11 points in the first half.

Iowa Wesleyan (7-12, 2-1 CAC) took a 48-46 lead into the half and held on for the 78-74 win. IWU finished the day 10-30 from the 3-point line.

CRC (2-16, 0-2 CAC) tied the game at 52 each with a Braxton Cousins free throw with 15;45 to play in the game. Bo Roberson followed with a layup to give the Pioneers the lead at 54-52 with 14:00 left. Cousins made another basket late to pull the Pioneers to within two points at 74-72 with 2:55 to play. CRC could not make one last run at the Tigers to take the lead.

The game was tied four times with five lead changes on the day.

Braxton Cousins led CRC with 27 points and nine rebounds. Bo Roberson added 21 points and J.D. Smith added 13 points in the afternoon.
