Batesville, Ark. - Pioneer golf wrapped up its second invitational of the season with a final 18 holes at Eagle Mountain Golf Course in Batesville, AR. At the conclusion of the final round, the Pioneers would fall one slot overall to 10th place as a team, with a total of 662 strokes to end the tournament (+86) over par.
Individually for the Pioneers, freshman Christopher Riddle broke away from the pack to pace the team as the California native bettered his day one round of 76 with a second round finish of 74 (+2), which was enough to bump the freshman to a top 10 finish in his second collegiate tournament. Riddle recorded six birdies in today's 18, sinking four on the front nine and two in the back nine. Riddle finished the invite with 150 swings (+6).
Taking second for the Pioneers was freshman Christian Walls, who fell behind team leader Riddle with trouble on today's back nine after finishing round one tied with Riddle and in 11th place overall. Walls persevered but added ten strokes to his scorecard in today's trip around the course, with the Paragould native shooting an 86 (+14). Walls sank three birdies in round two, bringing his total to four in the tournament. The freshman ended with the invite with 162 swings (+18) over par, falling to 41st overall.
Blake Brothers took the third-place finish for the squad after ending round one in the same position. Brothers improved his game by dropping 3 strokes in today's go-round to finish with a scorecard of 84 (+12) and found his only birdie of the tournament on hole two in round two. Brothers finished with 173 swings (+29) to jump one slot to take 52nd overall.
Slayde Barker also stayed in the same position from his day one finish, with Barker finishing fourth for the squad. Like Brothers, Barker also improved his scorecard by dropping 5 strokes to shoot an 86 (+14) in today's trip. Barker found a sole birdie on hole 11 in round two, totaled 177 swings (+33), and took 54th place overall.
Lastly, Kyle Russell crossed the finish line for the team as the senior finished round two 6 strokes better than his round one effort, giving him a total of 194 strokes (+50) and up one slot on the leaderboard to take 59th overall.
