Walls Takes Second at AMC Preview- Wil Teague, Sports Information Director, 3/23/26

Batesville, AR- Freshman golfer Christian Walls set a program milestone this afternoon, taking a program-best second-place finish at the AMC Preview, after narrowly missing out on the 1st place finish by being bested in a playoff hole shootout to Columbia College's Bruno Matri Jimenez. In the 36-hole event, Walls led the team with back-to-back 73 (+1) rounds to end regulation tied for first place with the help of 6 birdies. 

Fellow freshman Christopher "The Bear" Riddle also claimed a top-five position in the preview, with the California native finishing two places behind Walls in fourth place. Riddle matched his teammates 73 (+1) in the opening round but picked up two strokes in round two, finishing with a scorecard of 75 (+3). Riddle sank a team-high 7 birdies on the day. 

Taking third on the team was freshman Slayde Barker, shooting an 87 (+15) round one, with one birdie, before adding seven strokes to his game on the back round to shoot a 94 (+22), placing him at 28th overall. 

Blake Brothers took the last spot on the team scorecard, shooting a 91 (+19) in round one before adding resistance in round two with an additional two strokes to total a 93 (+21). Brothers landed right behind Barker at 29th overall. 

Holding down the alternate position for the Pioners was senior Kyle Russell, who shot a 92 (+20) in round one with a birdie on hole 17 and a 95 (+23) in round two to take 30th place overall.
