Batesville, Ark.- The mighty CRC Pioneers Cross Country team kicked off their new season with medal-winning performances at the Lyon College Invitational Friday night in Batesville, AR. Competing against the host college, Lyon, and rivals Williams Baptist University and Central Baptist College, every runner on both the men's and women's teams placed Top 20--with 4 in the Top 10.

Anthony Holladay, freshman, Tuckerman, AR, killed the final 400 meters for an incredible 6th-place finish. Nathan Hunter, a freshman from West Memphis, AR, finished strong in 13th place, and right on his heels was newcomer Brady Minix, a freshman from Akron, IN, to finish in 14th place.

The Lady Pioneers team, pushing through injury and health issues, saw 2 great Top 10 finishes: Shelby Elrod, a senior from Barlow, KY, ran a strong, consistent pace in the hills and the heat for a fantastic 6th place finish, and Taylin Green, a freshman from Bald Knob, AR, suffered through a painful pulled back muscle to finish 8th.

Cross Country Head Coach Shannon Beasley said about his team's performance, "I couldn't be prouder of this team if there were 2 of me! I'm going to brag on them till I annoy everyone in my life! We've talked on our team about having A goals, B goals, and C goals. Winning is a goal, but it's not the ONLY goal. If winning is your only goal, only 1 person goes home happy. If there are 100 competitors in a race, and winning is the ONLY goal, 99 of them go home miserable! We had each team member write out their list of A goals, B goals, and C goals. I'm happy to report that every runner achieved all their goals. So now . . . we Level Up! Don't sleep on these Pioneers. We comin'."

The Pioneers won't have to wait long to check those next-level goals. On Saturday, September 16, they will take a trip across the Mississippi River for the Rhodes College Invitational in Memphis, TN. Fear these 'Neers.
