NEVADA, Mo. - Crowley's Ridge softball traveled to the Show-Me State for a doubleheader against Cottey (Mo.) College, where the Comets took both games from the Lady 'Neers, 9-0 in the first game and 5-1 in the second.

GAME ONE (5 innings)

Crowley's Ridge - 0

Cottey - 9

After an unremarkable first inning with Sammi Henry (SR/Marmaduke, Ark.) in the circle to start, the Lady Pioneers (9-11) saw the Comets explode with a six-run inning off of six hits, highlighted by back-to-back home runs from Alyssa Montoya and Lauren Johnson.

Cottey (19-6) added three more runs and five more hits in the fourth inning, capped by Kristen Hurt's two-run double. The game ended before the Lady 'Neers could find the run column after five innings with a 9-0 final in favor of Cottey.

Hannah Powell (SR/Piggott, Ark.) and Kaitlyn Stebelton (SR/Crosby, Texas) were the lone Lady Pioneers with base hits with Rachel Russell (SR/Russellville, Ark.) reaching on an error to be the only girls in green to reach the basepaths.

GAME TWO

Crowley's Ridge - 1

Cottey - 5

Crowley's Ridge (9-12) sent Adrienne Stucker (SO/Poplar Bluff, Mo.) to the circle for game two where the sophomore completed her fourth complete game, holding the Comets to five runs.

Cottey (20-6) plated two runs in the third inning, followed by a two-run fourth inning helped by two Lady Pioneer fielding miscues to go ahead 4-0.

The Lady Pioneers plated their lone run of the day in the top of the fifth inning when Hannah Powell hit a one-out single that was followed by a single from April Kennedy (JR/Marmaduke, Ark.). It was Kaitlyn Stebelton's double that drove Powell around to put the Lady 'Neers on the scoreboard trailing 4-1. Cottey's Caitlyn Morgan hit her ninth long ball of the season to put the game out of reach to end the day with the Comets winning 5-1.

Stebelton reached base all three times she stepped to the plate, drawing a walk sandwiched by a team-leading two hits. Aubrey Jackson (SO/Glen Rose, Ark.), Kennedy, and Powell collected the other three hits for CRC.
