PARAGOULD, Ark. – Crowley's Ridge College honored their seniors with a special ceremony in the intermission between today's doubleheader with the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy (Mo.) with the Eutectics taking both games by a score of 8-3 followed by a 6-3 contest.
GAME ONE
Pharmacy – 8
Crowley's Ridge – 3
The Lady Pioneers (19-16) found themselves down in a hole early when a leadoff single and a sacrifice bunt saw a wild throw allow the lead UHSP (6-19) runner to score the opening run. After the third hit of the inning, the Eutectics scored against to make it a 2-0 lead before CRC approached the plate.
CRC would cut into the lead when Bailey Jones (FR/Fairfield, Texas) drew a leadoff walk, later scoring on Kaitlyn Stebelton (SR/Crosby, Texas)'s RBI single. The Eutectics added two runs in the second inning followed by a four-run fourth inning to lead the Lady 'Neers 8-1.
Stebelton's leadoff single in the fifth inning had the Lady Pioneers chip away at the deficit when she scored on Rachel Russell (SR/Russellville, Ark.)'s RBI single. Stebelton continued to pace the Pioneers, driving in the Lady Pioneers' third and final run with an RBI double to close the scoring with UHSP picking up the 8-3 win.
Russell and Stebelton both provided the Pioneer offense by tallying hits apiece.
Sammi Henry (SR/Marmaduke, Ark.) picked up the loss after three innings of work. She and her reliever, Hannah Powell (SR/Piggott, Ark.), had identical lines by both allowing six hits and four runs.
GAME TWO
Pharmacy – 6
Crowley's Ridge – 3
Crowley's Ridge (19-17) plated a run in the first frame of the game. Bre'Anna Warren (SR/Forrest City, Ark.) found herself on the basepaths after beating out a double play throw to first. Eventually wrapping around and scoring on K.J. Jackson (SR/Barton, Ark.)'s groundout, Warren opened the scoring with CRC ahead 1-0.
UHSP (7-19) wasted no time reclaiming the lead, scoring two runs thanks to consecutive doubles in the second inning. The Eutectics managed to score pairs of runs in the fourth and fifth innings to take a 6-1 lead into the final inning.
Bre'Anna Warren legged out an RBI triple, then was brought home herself on Sammi Henry's RBI double. With two runners on base and the tying run at the plate, the Eutectics were able to force a pop out to close the book on a 6-3 contest in favor of UHSP.
Henry earned three hits, while Stebelton followed with two.
Emily Breckenridge (SR/McCrory, Ark.) celebrated her senior day by being on the lineup to start her first career game throwing three innings of work.
