Wildcats Shutout Pioneers In Midweek Matchups- Wil Teague, Sports Information Director, 3/13/24

With this past weekend's doubleheader against UHSP being canceled due to weather, the Lady Pioneers continued their road gameplay streak with a two-game matchup against Lousiana Christian University in Pineville, LA. 

Game One:

Crowley's Ridge- 0

Louisiana Christian University- 7

Pineville, LA- Pioneer Softball was handed their second shutout loss of the season in game one where the Lady Wildcats defeated CRC seven runs to nil. The final score doesn't do justice for the game in its entirety as for 5 innings the the Lady Pioneers only trailed three to zero but with the CRC offense unable to manufacture any run support, LCU created the final gap in the bottom of the sixth as the Wildcats tacked on four more runs. CRC left six Lady Pioneers stranded on base in the contest. Crowley's Ridge had six hits in the loss with Kylie Cox taking credit for two of them with two singles. Shelby Elrod took her third loss whirling all 6.0 innings where she allowed seven runs on eleven hits while striking out one. 

Game Two:

Crowley's Ridge-0

Louisiana Christian University- 3

Pineville, LA- In game two LCU would again shutout CRC, this time with a no-hit bid as the Lady Wildcats swept the Lady Pioneers holding them hitless in the final contest. CRC allowed Louisiana Christian to take an early lead after two mishandled batted balls by the Pioneer defense let two Lady Wildcats reach home in the first and third innings. LCU scored their final run of the day in the fifth inning to defeat CRC 3-0. Halea Wells took the loss allowing three runs (one earned) on five hits while walking one in 6.0 innings of work.

Up Next: CRC Softball will return home and host Talladega College, whom they split with back on March 4th,  in a doubleheader matchup on Saturday, March 16th with game one set to start at 12:00 PM. #GOPIONEERS
