Pioneer Softball Sweeps Patriots in AMC Matchup- Wil Teague, Sports Information Director, 3/20/25

Pioneer Softball (9-7 & 2-0 AMC) earned the program's first two American Midwest Conference wins, sweeping the Patriots of Mission University (0-16 & 0-2 AMC) in today's doubleheader. 

Game 1 

Crowley's Ridge- 9

Mission University- 5

Springfield, MO- Crowley's Ridge offense shined out in game one, collecting 9 hits from the Lady Patriots pitching staff, profiting 9 runs for the Pioneers to lift them to a game one victory. Two runs in the top of the first would give the Pioneers their first and only necessary lead of the game, but five runs in the second created comfort, and a final two runs in the fourth sealed the deal for the Pioneers. Olivia Lanham led the offensive charge going 3 for 3 with 2 RBI. Jocelyn Villareal and Bailey Cupples also added 2 hits in the conference win. Halea Wells earned her second win of the year allowing 4 runs off 4 hits in 3.0 innings while striking out one. Aimee Buckley relieved Wells, finishing the remaining 4.0 innings where the freshman allowed 1 run off 1 hit, walked 1, and struck out 2. 

Game 2

Crowley's Ridge- 5

Mission University- 0 

Springfield, MO- The Pioneers were triumphant over the Patriots in game two with Natalie Brightwell earning her fifth win of the season by pitching her first shutout of the year. The RHP allowed no runs, 6 hits, walked 1, and fanned 4 Lady Patriots over her 7.0 inning complete game performance. Jordan Janak and Maddie Burris opened the scoring by bringing in one run each in the second inning, Kylie Cox added another in the fourth with her RBI triple, and seniors Bailey Cupples and Kourtni Jagneaux topped the scoring with RBI hits in the 7th. The Pioneer offense muscled 8 hits, Bailey Cupples and Karsen Overshine each had two hits in the contest.
