Lady Owls Best Lady Pioneers in AMC Weekend Doubleheader- Wil Teague, Sports Information Director, 3/29/25

Pioneer Softball (10-14 & 2-6 AMC) had their losing streak increased to four with the Lady Owls of William Woods University (15-14 & 5-3 AMC) coming out triumphant in this afternoon's American Midwest Conference doubleheader. 

Game 1 (5 innings) 

Crowley's Ridge- 0

William Woods- 17

Fulton, MO- The hosting William Woods dominated the opening contest, leaving little doubt with the Lady Owls run-ruling the Lady Pioneers in five innings. WWU secured 17 runs off 17 hits while the Owls' pitching staff restricted the Lady Pioneers to one hit with Karsen Overshine claiming the base knock with a single down the left field line in the fourth. Aimee Buckley took her second loss of the season with the freshman allowing 10 runs off 9 hits, walking 2, and striking out 2 over 1.1 innings. 

Game 2

Crowley's Ridge- 2

William Woods-5

Fulton, MO- The Lady Pioneers would fall by just 3 runs in game two, painfully leaving 11 Lady Pioneers abandoned on the base paths. Crowley's Ridge increased their base hits to five this go-round, but would only see two runs cross the plate with Lilly Wessel and Jocelyn Villarreal crossing the plate in the sixth off a Lady Owl fielding error. Ava Jessup would get the start for CRC and reciprocated the dominant performance from inside to the circle, as the Lake Charles, LA native surrendered one hit, a double in the 3rd inning. Achingly, Jessup would face the loss as WWU pushed 5 runs across the plate with the assistance of 6 walks and 3 Pioneer fielding errors. Villarreal led the offense, going 2 for 4 with one run scored. Jessup finished with 5 runs (3 earned) off 1 hit, walking 6 and striking out 3 in 6.0 innings.
