Pioneer Softball (13-17 & 4-6 AMC) claimed both contests today against the Lady Trojans of Hannibal-LaGrange University (6-22 &1-9 AMC). 

Game 1

Crowley's Ridge- 9

Paragould, Ark.- Senior pitcher Halea Wells earned her third win of the year in game one, with the Texan going the distance from the circle, allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 5 hits, walking 4 and striking out 2, to emerge victorious 9-3 in the contest. The Pioneer offense manufactured the 9 runs off 13 hits, including 4 extra base hits. Olivia Lanham led the offense, going 2 for 4, driving in 4 RBIs, all credited to her first homer of the season with a grand-slam to left field in the fifth. Senior Bailey Cupples was the sole Pioneer with three hits in the game, going 3 for 4 with two doubles. Lilly Wessel added a 2 for 4 effort with an RBI, and lastly, Jordan Janak brought in two RBIs with a double to left center. 

Game 2

Paragould, Ark.- In game two, CRC came out victorious, barely scrapping past the Lady Trojans with a 1-run win, as the CRC offense pushed two runs across the plate in the bottom of the fourth to reclaim the lead, which they maintained for the remainder of the contest.  Offensively, the Lady Pioneers collected 8 hits on which they scored 3 runs. Senior Kylie Cox brought in the Pioneers' first run of the game with an RBI single up the middle in the top of the second before delivering again in the fourth, alongside fellow senior Jocelyn Villarreal, as the pair each knocked in a run in the game-deciding frame. Freshman Aimee Buckley earned her first collegiate win, tossing 4.0 innings, allowing 2 runs (1 earned) off 4 hits while walking 1 and striking out two before being relieved by senior Natalie Brightwell, who finished the contest earning her first save of the season by allowing no runs and no hits, while striking out two in 3.0 innings of relief work to close the game. Junior Lilly Wessel and senior Villarreal each had two hits in the win.

Up Next: Pioneer Softball will be back on the diamond tomorrow as they host Missouri Baptist University for a double header starting at 12:00 PM. #GOPIONEERS
