Pioneer Softball Concludes Opening Weekend

Pioneer Softball Concludes Opening Weekend- Wil Teague, Sports Information Director, 2/7/26

Game Three:

Crowley's Ridge- 1

McPherson College- 6

Branson, MO- In the Pioneers' third matchup at the Branson Bash, errors would be the nail in the coffin for the team, with CRC aiding the Lady Bulldogs offense, allowing 4 unearned runs to cross the plate off 5 Pioneer mishaps. In total hits, CRC would only trail the Bulldogs by one, six to five, but with the extra lives given from the Pioneers, it would make the gap too wide for Crowley's Ridge to bridge. Lilly Wessel drove in the Pioneers' lone run in the 6th with an RBI single to centerfield. Jada Diaz led the offense, going (2-3) with two singles. Aimee Buckley took the loss, tossing 4.0 innings and surrendering 5 runs (1 earned) off 4 hits with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts.

Game Four:

Crowley's Ridge- 3

Evangel University- 16

Branson, MO- In the final contest of the weekend, CRC's defense turned things around, only seeing a single error in the contest, but would be faced with a stout Valor pitching performance, which dominated the matchup, limiting the Pioneers to two hits in the game. Both Pioneer base knocks came on the fourth frame, with the team linking together 2 runs off 2 hits. Sophomore Aimee Buckley took credit for one hit, singling to the six-hole, and Lauren Jones took credit for the other, smashing a 2 RBI double. Lilly Wessel drove in the Pioneers' final run in the 5th, via a groundout to score Diaz. Lauren Jones took the loss for the Pioneers, tossing 3.0 innings from the circle.

Up Next: The Pioneers will hit the field again on Thursday, February 12th, on the road in OK with a four-game series against Oklahoma Wesleyan. #GOPIONEERS
