Toppers Top Pioneers in Midweek Doubleheader

Toppers Top Pioneers in Midweek Doubleheader- Wil Teague, Sports Information Director, 2/17/26

Game One: (5-innings)

Crowley's Ridge- 3

Blue Mountain- 11

Blue Mountain, MS- Blue Mountain Christian emerged in front of the Pioneers in game one with a score of 11-3 as the Pioneers started hot, scoring all three of their runs in the top of the first, but were cooled off by the Topper defense, which held the Pioneers scoreless the remaining innings. In the productive opening frame, senior Lilly Wessel and sophomores Aimee Buckley and Olivia Lanham would each bring a run to the plate from the box, with Wessel getting the Pioneers on the board with a grounder to third, scoring Jada Diaz, followed by Buckley's sacrifice fly which scored Maddie Burris, and Lanhams double down the right field line to score Jordan Janak. Buckley took the loss for the Pioneers from inside the circle.

Game Two: (5 innings)

Crowley's Ridge- 2

Blue Mountain- 14

Blue Mountain, MS- Like a bad case of deja vu, the Pioneers would see a repeat of their attack plan from game one in game two, scoring both of their runs in the contest's opening three outs before being held silent for the remaining twelve. In this round, junior Jada Diaz would start things with her legs, taking home on a wild pitch before sophomore Aimee Buckley scored senior Lilly Wessel with her RBI single up the middle a couple of batters later.  BMC would exit the inning with no more damage taken and then roll out runs consecutively over the next 5 frames to take the contest. The Pioneers totaled 4 hits in the contest. Cloey Miller took the loss from the circle.

Up Next: The Pioneers will host Bethel University (TN) in the season's home opener this Friday at 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM. #GOPIONEERS
