Wildcats Best Pioneers at Pioneer Park

Wildcats Best Pioneers at Pioneer Park- Wil Teague, Sports Information Director, 2/20/26

After a few weather delays, the Pioneers were able to finally hit their home diamond, hosting the Bethel University Lady Wildcats this afternoon in a non-conference doubleheader. In both contests, the Wildscats would edge past the Pioneers, spoiling CRC's home opener.

Game One:

Crowley's Ridge- 13

Bethel University (TN)- 7

Pioneer Park-In the opening matchup, it would be a ping-pong contest with the score seeing three ties and four lead changes over the seven-inning contest before a three-inning drought from the Pioneers would do them in. CRC muscled runs to the plate in the first, second, and fourth frames with senior Lilly Wessel providing the most pop with a 3-run homer and 4 RBI game. Maddie Burris led the offense, going (2-3), with a triple, three runs scored, and an RBI. Junior Jada Diaz was a catalyst at the top of the lineup, also scoring three runs for the Pioneers and drawing three free bases from the Bethel pitching staff. Aimee Buckley went the distance for the Pioneers, tossing all 7.0 innings in the defeat.

Game Two: (6 innings)

Crowley's Ridge- 3

Bethel Universitry-6

Pioneer Park- In game two, the Pioneers employed a very similar attack method with Crowley's Ridge College jumping out to an early lead, but failing to hold off Bethel in the long run. Like a rewind button, CRC pushed three runs to the plate in the bottom of the first, one through Lilly Wessel's RBI single and the other two through Jordan Janak's 2-run blast to center field, lifting them to an early lead.  But a persistent Bethel offense would answer and erase the early deficit through a three-run third inning, which shifted the momentum and then later secured the win by adding insurance runs late in the contest. Jada Diaz led the team, going 2-3 and scoring one run. Cloey Miller got the start in the circle, going 4.0 innings, allowing 6 runs (4 earned) off 4 hits, walking 3, and striking out 4.

Up Next: The Pioneers will stay at home, hosting Blue Mountain Christian on Thursday, February 26th. #GOPIONEERS
