Eagles Sweep Pioneers in AMC Doubleheader

Eagles Sweep Pioneers in AMC Doubleheader- Wil Teague, Sports Information Director, 4/21/26

Pioneer Softball fell twice to the Eagles of WBU in today's American Midwest Conference showdown in Walnut Ridge. Sumcumming first by a score of 6-0 before facing a second defeat of 5-0 in game two. 

Game One: 

Crowley's Ridge-0

Williams Baptist- 6

Walnut Ridge, AR- In the opening contest, almost five innings would conclude before any team would plate a run as the Eagles of WBU broke the stalemate with what would end up being the game-deciding turn in the bottom of the fifth. In the inning, the Eagles laced together an explosive six runs off seven hits to take the first and only lead needed in the contest. The Pioneers left five runners stranded and tallied five hits. CRC was led by Lilly Wessel, who was 2-3 with two singles. Aimee Buckley took the loss from the circle, surrendering 6 runs off 11 hits with 5 strikeouts. 

Game Two:

Crowley's Ridge – 0

Williams Baptist – 5

Walnut Ridge, AR – Crowley's Ridge suffered a second consecutive shutout loss to the Eagles in game two, with nearly identical circumstances to game one. Williams Baptist scored single runs in the third and sixth innings, but once again did most of its damage in the fifth, plating three runs on a long ball to left field. The Pioneers left six runners stranded on base and recorded five hits as a team for the second straight game, led by Aimee Buckley, who went 2-for-3 at the plate. Lauren Jones took the loss in the circle, allowing five runs on 11 hits while recording two strikeouts.
