Lady Pioneers Down Lady Royals

PARAGOULD, AR - The Lady Pioneers of Crowley's Ridge College opened the 2018 Pioneer Classic on Thursday evening with a 93-52 win against the Lady Royals of Ecclesia College.

Seniors Elly Burrell and Alexus Taylor led the Pioneers on a 15-0 run in the last part of the first quarter to give their team an early 24-6 lead. Crowley's Ridge continued to build on the momentum and never looked back.

The Lady Pioneers shot 45.6% (36/79) from the field and 34.8% (8/23) from deep as a team. CRC capitalized on 26 Ecclesia turnovers with 21 points off those mistakes. They also received 39 points from their bench in the win.

Ecclesia College was led in scoring by Haley Gresham with 12 points.

Crowley's Ridge was led in scoring by Alexus Taylor with 23 points. Elly Burrell notched another double-double performance with 15 points and 11 rebounds. All 12 Pioneers that checked in the game etched at least two points in the scoring column.

The Pioneer Classic will continue tomorrow (Friday, December 7) with a 7:00 PM game between Ecclesia College and Pensacola Christian College.
