PARAGOULD, Ark. – The Crowley's Ridge College Lady Pioneers started the 2022 half of their season with a bang, running away with a 77-44 victory over Welch (Tenn.) College.
A 17-13 first quarter was the closest segment of the game, with Lizzy Rowton pacing Crowley's Ridge (5-8) with seven points in the first ten minutes of play.
The Lady Pioneers decimated the visiting Lady Flames (4-7) in the second quarter, holding Welch to four points while tallying 20 points of their own. The tandem of Lindsey Browning and Lotti Hoffman combined for 15 of those points, giving CRC a comfortable 37-17 lead at the break.
Neither team wanted to get going in the third quarter, with Crowley's Ridge and Welch trading unsuccessful shots until Hoffman's 3-pointer at the 7:10 mark broke the stalemate. The girls in green would kick into gear to bucket 19 third-quarter points, while the Lady Flames eventually bucketed a game-high 14 points in the quarter.
With Crowley's Ridge comfortably ahead 60-36 halfway through the final quarter, both teams began subbing in their younger players to allow for some late minutes before the buzzer sounded on a 77-44 CRC victory.
Browning collected a double-double with 12 rebounds to go along with her 10 points. Hoffman added 10 points of her own in the victory.
