TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. – Vince Lombardi was quoted as saying "We didn't lose... we just ran out of time." Those words rang true for Crowley's Ridge on Saturday when a shorthanded Lady Pioneer comeback ran out of time against Wilberforce (Ohio) University 73-65.

Down by six late in the first quarter, Crowley's Ridge (9-12, 2-4 CAC) saw Lindsey Browning start hot with a 10-point quarter. After the first quarter, neither team held an advantage tied 24-24.

The Bulldogs (9-12, 4-2 CAC) had a big second quarter, doubling up the Lady 'Neers with 16 points to CRC's eight. The girls in green went 2-14 in the quarter to give Wilberforce a 40-32 lead at intermission.

With a short bench to work with in the back half, Claire Bellers shone in the third quarter, scoring five of her 11 points to chase the Bulldogs. With 10 minutes to work with, CRC found themselves down 55-44.

Crowley's Ridge started the final quarter on a 10-4 run to close the Bulldog lead to 59-55. With 30 seconds left, CRC found themselves down by two possessions 69-65, but a late jumper and pair of free throws by the Bulldogs put the game on ice with a final score of 73-65.

Lizzy Rowton's 16-point effort led the Lady 'Neers, followed by Madison Sellars' 14 points. Browning ended with 12 points, while Bellers bucketed a season-high 11.
