Lady Pioneers Increase Win Streak- Wil Teague, Sports Information Director, 10-15-22

 

Women's basketball spun the tires on the asphalt this afternoon, heading to Conway, Ark. to take on the Lady Warriors of Hendrix College. Coming off a win from last Thursday against Pensacola Christian, Crowley's Ridge kept the win train chugging along with a 6 point lead at the half and turned their lead into a 70-60 victory over the Lady Warriors. 

 

In the first half CRC would look to their post to anchor their attack. Junior Lindsey Browning led the Pioneer offense in the half with 11 points, shooting 4-6 from the field and ending with a perfect 3-3 from the foul line. The young Pioneers wouldn't be quiet for long as two freshmen would step up again for CRC. Brinley Morgan, from Fox, Ark., came up big for the Lady 'Neers snatching up 7 rebounds in the first half with all 7 being defensive rebounds. Morgan added 3 steals and 2 assists while bucketing 5 points in the half to add to her report. Reigiana Ward would leave her mark as well by adding 6 points to the CRC side of the scoreboard in the half helping the Pioneers to a 32-26 lead at the break.

 

In the second half the Lady Warriors would bust out a 9-0 run to kick off the third quarter, retaking the lead 35-32 from a three in the corner with 7:30 on the clock. This would be the first lead the Warriors had over the Pioneers since 6:46 in the first quarter where they led 4-7. The lead would not hold as CRC grabbed it back with a bucket from Reigiana Ward to reclaim the lead 38-37, with 4:31 in the third quarter. The Lady Pioneers then took control of the game in the fourth quarter  by extending their lead to 13 with a 13-1 run, capping it with a shot behind the arc from junior Lotti Hoffman making it 51-38 with 7:32 left to play. Both teams would burn through what was left in the tank by finding a combined 39 points in the last 6 minutes of the contest Hendrix College would cut the deficit but not be able to retake the lead as CRC took the victory back to Paragould with a 70-60 win.

 

Leaders:

Two Pioneers ended tonight with a double double. Lindsey Browning led the Pioneers with 20 points and 12 Rebounds. Brinley Morgan posted season high numbers ending the night with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Reigiana Ward concluded the night with 10 points.
