Lyon College - 119

Batesville, Ark.- The Women's Basketball Program wrapped up the calendar year of 2023 with a matchup against NCAA DIII Lyon College earlier this afternoon on the road in Batesville, Arkansas. In their final contest before the Holidays, the Lady Pioneers battled intensely as several Pioneers reached the five-foul mark before the final buzzer sounded. The Lady Pioneers bucketed a whopping 95 points in the hard-fought contest, ending just two points shy of their season-high 97-point effort against Trinity Baptist in their season opener. In most cases, in a high-scoring contest like this, a win is all but assured but woefully the Pioneers still fell short of the mark as the Lady Scots outscored CRC in every quarter. The Lady Scots busted out with two thirty-point quarters as they scored 32 points in the opening 10 minutes of play and then bested it with a 35-point second quarter. This great start for the Scots allowed them to leap ahead as Lyon took a 15-point lead into the break. The Scots continued their attack in the second half, ending the contest 54.0% from the field. Bitterly, even with the Pioneers' strong offensive performance, Lyon's was stronger as they coasted to a 119-95 win over CRC making CRC (5-5) on the season.

Reigiana Ward took center stage in today's contest as she was the top fragger on the court. Ward posted a CRC single-game record-high 34 points, shooting 9-15 from the field including knocking down a wild 6 three-pointers as she shot 60% from beyond the arc in the contest. Ward slipped past former teammate Mickayla Smith and current teammate Hunter Gibson by four points to claim the record. CRC had 4 other Lady Pioneers reach double digits in points with Gibson finishing with 14, while Ansley Dawson, Kylan Stevens, and Makayla Herndon all added 11 points for the Pioneers. Herndon led the team in rebounds with 12, reaching the double-double status.

Up Next: CRC Women's Basketball takes a break for the Holidays and resumes their season on January 2, 2024, with a game against Champion Christian College at home in the Carter Activities Center starting at 2:00 PM.
