Paragould, Ark.- The Lady Pioneers hosted Haskell Indian Nations University this evening for their second conference matchup of the year. CRC entered the contest still searching for their first conference win after #23 College of the Ozarks slipped past the Lady Pioneers last Saturday with a 90-74 win. In their contest this evening against the Fightin' Indians of Haskell, Crowley's Ridge wouldn't collect the win they were in search of as HINU took the lead in the opening minutes of the contest and maintained it for the remainder of the game.
CRC flipped their usual "game script" where they saved their best effort for the last quarter by shooting a game-high 42.1% from the field, producing another game-high effort of 24 points in the opening quarter but regretfully for CRC, the Lady Pioneers wouldn't be unable to keep this pace as their effort slowly dipped over the remaining three quarters. Haskell took an 8-point lead into the break, which proved to be the big difference maker as the visiting team only outscored CRC by two points in the two final quarters but with their first-half effort, the Indians were able to claim the double-digit victory. Another key stat in the contest was the team's benches. Haskell rallied 37 points from their reserves compared to CRC's 11. The Lady Pioneers now fall to (6-8) on the season and (0-2) in conference.
Crowley's Ridge had a few good takeaways from the defeat as reigning CAC POTW Ansley Dawson kept her 20 points or more streak alive as she led her team in scorning for the fourth contest in a row with 25 points while co-leading in rebounds with junior Makayla Herndon as both Lady Pioneers collected 9 rebounds. Reigiana Ward climbed back in the "20" point club with her 22-point night and Travia Woodruff kept her three-game double-digit assist streak alive with her 10 assists and 6 steal performance.
