CRC Makes Golf History
CRC Makes Golf History- Wil Teague, Sports Information Director, 9/14/22
September 12th, 2022 marks a historical day for CRC Athletics. For the first time in history not only did a men's team attack the green, but a women's as well. As a solo player, Maddie Minyard traveled with the men's team to compete in the WBU Fall Invitational in the women's bracket.
Freshman Maddie Minyard's first tee, not only smashed the ball but it smashed open the door for our women's program and opportunities for the future. The Armorel native would hit the course on day one ready for action. Minyard would seek rhythm and would find it at the half way point of the first round on hole nine. She would keep this chain going ending the day with a par on a very long hole number 18. Minyard would carry this momentum over to the next day. Day two Minyard would sleep well and would step up her game shaving a solid 7 strokes off her score in the second round shooting her up the leader board and landing her in 28th place overall. This would complete Minyard's and the program's debut.
"I'm so proud of her. She really has no idea how much of a role she is playing in building up our women's program. What makes me the most proud is how her strength and character shined through a very tough college debut. She has moxie and the whole team likes it!" – Head Coach Adam Meeker.
CRC is very excited for our new program. We look to build off each other and continue to grow as a school and athletic family. We are thankful for Maddie and her willingness to choose CRC. We are glad she is a Pioneer and we look forward to her continuation in helping build this program from the ground up. #GOPIONEERS
Golf's next appearance on the green will be on September 26th- 27th at the Chickasaw Golf Course in Henderson, TN. competing in the Freed-Hardeman University fall Invitational
