Springfield, MO- Pioneer Golf teed off over the last two days in their final Fall Invitational of the semester by participating in the Evangel Valor Tournament hosted by Evangel University in Springfield, MO. This go 'round the Pioneers were faced with a challenging tournament as they played 36 holes on the opening day instead of the traditional 18. With the long 36-hole day yesterday and today's final 18, the spent Pioneers finished strong in their matchup, placing 6th overall in the final tournament of the semester.

After the 36-hole day, Isaac Langley led the Pioneers as he has in every tournament so far this season. Langley ended tied for 15th as he was (+16) over par for the day. The senior shot an 83 on the opening 18 but dropped 8 strokes the second time around finishing round two with a score of 75 and 158 swings on the day. At the conclusion of today's final 18 holes Langley still led the Pioneers and jumped ahead two spots on the final standings by shooting a 78 totaling 236 swings being (+23) over par and in 12th overall. 

Sophomore Bradie Gunther took second for the Pioneers in the tournament as he shot in the 80s in both rounds on day one. Round one was Gunther's best score with an  80 as he picked up three more swings in the second round, shooting an 83 for 160 swings for the day placing him tied for 17th overall on the opening day sitting (+18) over par. At the end of today's effort, Gunther stayed in the 80s with an 84 ending (+31) with 244 swings and 22nd overall.  

Senior and co-captain with Langley, Creston Sweet, finished 4th for CRC on day one but climbed one spot at the end of the second day finishing third for the team. Sweet ended the 36-hole day (+27) over par as he shot an 86 and an 83 in the two rounds. Sweet then shot his lowest round of the tournament with an 81 swing effort in today's 18 totaling 250 hacks for the invitational, being (+37) and tied for 28th overall jumping 6 spots up on the leaderboard.

Senior Matt Crabtree finished third on the opening day for the Pioneers as finished (+23) over par by shooting an 84 on the first 18 and then beating his score with an 81 over the last 18. Crabtree wrapped up his play in the tournament with an 89 stoke day in today's 18, making him drop to 4th overall for CRC, leaving him (+41) over par and in 37th overall with 254 swings in the tournament

Walker Hibbs crossed the finish line 5th for the Pioneers. The sophomore finished (+29) on day one by shooting in the mid-80s in both rounds with a score of 85 and 86. Hibbs broke into the 90s with a 91 score in today's final 18 holes. Hibbs totaled 262 cuts,(+49), landing him tied for 39th overall.

 

Lady Pioneer Golf:

 

Maddie Minyard and Shelby Razer both traveled with the guys to compete in the ladies' individual bracket. Minyard finished the monstrous 36-hole day (+88) over par shooting a 109 in the front 18 but ran into some trouble as she added several strokes to her game ending the back 18 with 121 chops. Minyard closed the Fall season with a 110-swing effort giving her a (+127) over-par score totalling 340 swings in 32nd place overall. 

Shelby Razer flip-flopped  Minyard as she played her best 18 the second time through on the opening day. Razer wrapped up the 36 holes (+157) over par with a 160-swing effort on the first 18 and a 139-swing effort on the back 18. Razer went on to shoot a 145 in today's round giving her a total of (+231) over par with 444 swings and in 37th overall.
