OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Crowley's Ridge College hit the diamond for the final game of a three-game weekend against Southwestern Christian (Okla.) University, falling in nine innings 8-1.
Crowley's Ridge (4-4) sent junior Corbett Seib to the hill to start against the Eagles. After giving up a leadoff double, Seib coaxed two groundouts and a strikeout to defuse the SCU threat.
The Southwestern Christian (10-2) pitching staff continued to flex, holding CRC hitless until the sixth inning when Chipper Lamb smacked a double to left field. In the meantime, SCU plated three runs in the second inning thanks to three extra-base hits.
The Pioneers were able to stave off a third consecutive shutout in the top of the eighth inning when Bobby Wright doubled home Lamb, on base after drawing a walk.
Phoenix Beal and Zorey Chipman joined Lamb and Wright as the four men in green to pick up hits.
Seib ended his day after six innings with four strikeouts while walking two. Andrew Brown and Jackson Imler each tossed an inning of relief.
