Lady Pioneers break even with Rust sweep

PARAGOULD, Ark. – Crowley's Ridge College continued their winning ways on Tuesday night, bringing their win streak to four matches with a sweep of Rust (Miss.) College 25-13, 25-10, 25-13.
The Lady Pioneers (5-5) utilized an 8-0 run midway through the opening set to gallop to a 14-3 lead over the visitors. After losing the opening rally, Kaitlyn Perkins continued to show off her serving skills by sending over the first of three service aces. CRC had a match-high 12 kills in the first set victory 25-10.
After dropping the first two rallies to Rust (2-10) in the second set, Crowley's Ridge did not give up consecutive points to the Bearcats. CRC's 25% attack rating was helped by Brooklynn Passmore serving up back-to-back aces before Kaylee Cline's kill ended the 25-10 middle set.
In a race for top service ace marks, Kaitlyn Perkins answered with back-to-back aces of her own in the third set – bringing her season total to 25 – as the Lady 'Neers cruised to a 25-13 set win to take the match.
Tonight's match marked the fourth time and third consecutive match with over 10 service aces. Crowley's Ridge currently sits at 12th in the nation by averaging 2.24 aces per set.
Hannah Halverson led the Pioneers with a double-double of 10 kills and 16 digs. Emi Elms was a threat on the front row with three solo stuffs, while Perkins pulled up 26 digs.

Crowley's Ridge hits the road again with a tri-match in the Music City by facing Fisk (Tenn.) University before opening Continental Athletic Conference play against Florida College on October 2. First serve against Fisk is set for 11 a.m. while the Florida College match begins at 1 p.m.
