PARAGOULD, Ark. – Playing in just their third home match of the season, the Lady Pioneers fell in straight sets to the Williams Baptist (Ark.) Eagles 20-25, 16-25, 17-25.
Playing from behind most of the match, Crowley's Ridge (6-11, 1-4 CAC) saw their guests from Williams Baptist (2-19, 1-3 AMC) win nine of the first 11 rallies. The Lady Pioneers battled back late, narrowing the Eagle lead to 22-19, but one of the Lady 'Neers 20 attack errors ended the set in favor of WBU 25-20.
The second set proved to be closer early, with CRC trailing WBU by a lone point 9-8 before the Eagles opened up a 10-2 turn. That momentum vaulted the guests to a 25-16 set win.
With the wind effectively out of their sails, Crowley's Ridge could not settle into a groove, with the final four rallies of the match going in favor of Williams Baptist to end the match on a 25-17 note.
CRC ended the night in the red, committing 20 errors to their 19 kills. Emi Elms led the CRC attack with seven kills helped by Kaitlyn Perkins' team-high 28 digs.
