Chesterfield, MO- The #3-seeded Pioneers emerged victorious in the afternoon's opening matchup, defeating #6-seeded Cottey College in three sets for the second time this month. Sets went as follows: 16-25, 17-25, and 20-25.
Brooklyn Cross led the attack with the junior slamming 12 kills in the short match, followed by Casper College transfer, Kyrsten Bake, who followed close behind with 10 kills for the Pioneers. Junior utility player Jillian Glasgow posted a double-double in the win with 18 assists and 10 digs, and sophomore Maddie Burris followed Glasgow with 13 assists in the matchup.
With the win over Cottey College, the Pioneers and Head Coach Carol Brotman earn the program's first AMC Postseason victory and secure their advancement to the AMC semifinals, facing off against #2 seeded Stephens College tonight at 7:30 PM.
The Pioneers (18-20) enter tonight's 7:30 PM matchup against the Stars (25-12) at a dead-even split, with each program earning a win apiece in the two regular-season matchup contests. The Pioneers defeated the Stars in a five-set thriller back on September 12th at home in the Carter Activities Center before dropping the road matchup against Stephens in four sets on October 18th in Conway, AR.
